I don't have media contacts but I wanted to point out a few things for everyone.

First of all, North Central seems to euthanize at the drop of a hat. I called Ana about a month ago because I was interested in a mama cat and her five four-week old kittens. It turned out they were all being euthanized at noon for URI and conjuctivitis. There had been no emails about their plight. I pulled them and took them all to the vet. The mama and one kitten weren't even sick. The other four needed Vitamin B12 shots and antibiotics, plus Lysine. One kitten (Tiny) died the following day and another (little Ice Cream) fought bravely for another week but ultimately joined his brother. The other three are fine, even the one who had glued shut and bulging eyeballs for several weeks. Two are already adopted and the only one that isn't adopted had been adopted but was returned for allergies. Long story short, this particular shelter will euthanize an entire litter and the mama if even one kitten is sick.

Second point, North Central has seven chihuahuas that are in serious trouble. Yet the new head of LAAS was on the news on Sunday bragging that little dogs are being sent to cities where they're more adoptable. What the hell is she talking about? Less than three days after this broadcast, Ana, the NC New Hope coordinator, is sending out a "last call" email about these seven dogs. My group will take one but we're a cat rescue and don't have the ability to take on too many dogs.

Perhaps sending an email to the new LAAS head would be a start?

I know a lot of people are angry about this family - and it looks like there was a rescue/foster available and the shelter had been notified.

I think quite a few of those little chis were rescued/adopted. Is the little one you were going to take still there?
