PLEASE CROSS POST!!!

Maggie Needs A Savior! This is her LAST CHANCE!!!

This sweet little lady, Maggie (A1174461) an friendly active 3 yr old, Spayed, Pit Bull, came to the shelter on December 10th, 2010. She was sweet as can be but obviously pregnant; we had her spayed when she became available.

We loved her, networked her, made sure she was socialized and showed her off to everyone that came in. Finally on the 4th of January Maggie was adopted…but alas her story does not end there.

On January 7th, this poor dog, was returned to the shelter for being hyper! Did they walk or run her? NO! Did they go out and play with her daily? NO! Was she given copious amounts of attention as a dog that just came from a shelter situation? NO! Yet the humans blame Maggie for her behavior…

Maggie (A1174461) sits in the Kennels, depressed & pleading for attention by licking the bars when people pass…no barking, just pleading eyes, up on her hind legs with desperate licking of the bars, pleading for her freedom with a hopefully wagging tail. See her video here: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php ... 1&comments

Maggie needs a good home with a caring owner and hopefully other dogs to play with. Her time was up more than 2 weeks ago but the supervisor love her dearly so she was given more time…that time is now up as well. She has essentially spent 2 MONTHS of her life in the shelter!

A friend of mine got out of rescue because she couldn't stand the craziness and instability of some rescuers. One such rescuer made a grand announcement about her impending rescue of sweet Maggie, and her grand plans for her future. Following are the emails forwarded to me by my friend, from her 'civilian' friend who has two well-trained and well-loved rescue pitbulls:

Email No. 1:

Please don't roll your eyes at me over this. Won't bore you with the story but some crazy animal person I was trying to help bailed this dog out tonight thinking I would just take it tomorrow. It's on the kill list at South Central. Do you know any reputable rescue/foster that would take her in the next day or so if I donated $500 or so until I figure out what to do. I just can't focus on anything now that I know if I tell the shelter it was a mistake she was getting bailed, they will destroy her. She sounds like one worth saving. Any ideas, please let me know. I know you don't involve yourself in this any more, but it's just a weird set of events that have put me in this spot. Thank you for even looking at this. (Her photo is at the L A Animal Services website where you can just input her impound number.

(I did not receive this email until the next day, too late to react, and called to ask if Maggie had been saved.)

Email No. 2:

>Maggie has left the building. Funny story: Suzanne had to go to court right after evaluating and checking out Maggie for me in order to pay an overdue parking ticket and didn't want to leave Maggie in the car (as she had literally just picked her up) so she put a "therapy dog in training" vest on her and took her into the courthouse! Maggie was made a great fuss of by the security at the courthouse and some children who were there. She sat quietly at Suzanne's feet while she took care of business and was complimented on what a well-behaved therapy dog she was!! She thinks she is only about 14 months or so. So tonight she is at her facility and I will see her this weekend. Glad I could give her a chance. Thank you again for your kindness. You are the best.

Email No. 3 (update from my friend):

The dog is fine. She is being adopted by family of Obama's personal lawyer. Enormously wealthy and dog loving people. She is now a Jewish princess.

(From Death Row at the South Los Angeles pound, Maggie is now officially a Canine with Connections.)

I'm confused. So the crazy rescuer who said they were going to take Maggie, ended up not? So your friend saved her and rehomed her?

How did she get adopted so darn fast?
