Steve Autry did call me back last evening & we connected. He told me he did not have carriers-hard to believe- & he took the cats to OC Shelter. His daughter proceeded to open the car door & they ran out. He called in to the shelter, talked to someone named Amanda; she said she would send someone out to the parking lot. This was at 9:30 AM Sunday the 7th. No one ever came out--they had to catch a plane & left.I let him know the second cat, Pepper, was missing. He
seemed to be concerned Salt would be euthanized & I explained that there was a good possibility. I wouldn't give him a minute's peace that we are all trying to save him.I kept the conversation pleasant, as I needed to get info. He does work for Lucent, that's how I found him. I spoke with Tammy Osborne, the volunteer coordinator at OC this morning. She said that food & water is always left out. The bad news is, & I don't know the shelter there at all, is that the shelter is very close to the freeway, the wash, a mall & there are many hiding places where a frightened cat can go. They are the hardest to find as they do not make themselves known. Does anyone know any volunteers, I will pay them, who can go to the parking lot & start to search for this poor cat. Maybe he will respond to his name. As Tammy said, he will probably come out at nite. Time is of the essence, it's now 5 days. We also need to get the other kitty, Salt out of there. He should be fairly
easy to place, 5 years & declawed..UGH!I do think that Pepper is very close by, we all know that cats stay around. My heart goes out to him, losing his mother, his home, his mate-he must be terrified. If anyone wants to contact me over the weekend, I am at :323-655-6752. I do not have total access to email 'til Monday. I agree that we need to go after
Autry, but let's concentrate on finding Pepper. By the way, he never mentioned a Board & Care place.I doubt if he works for Lucent if that was the truth to begin with. Nice way for he & his wife to honor his mother-in -law's memory.
