Very sad 14 year old Collie - now Trixie!

A forum for our personal animals that have gone to Rainbow Bridge. Our time with them was far too short, and they were very much loved.

One day we will meet again.

Does she stare mindlessly at the mirror like my ancient Andre does?

umm . . . where are your mirrors? Mine tend to be on walls, which are too high for the dogs to look into monkey

So she doesn't stare mindlessly at the mirror, but I do . . .maybe I need some of those meds!

Sadly I am waiting for Dr. Kelly to come tonight to help Trixie go to Rainbow Bride. This decision is never easy for anyone and never fails to break my heart. She's been having major seizures and yesterday she stopped drinking/eating and has no use of her back legs.

I read back this thread and there was just something about Trixie that made me want to have her. I thought how sad it was that her guardian passed away and then her buddy was adopted out, leaving her alone at the shelter. At 14, I figured we had maybe a few months together. But we had a little over a year and a half.

And she always made me laugh - she had ornery old lady ways, where she didn't want to be helped with anything - to stand up, to move her to a more comfortable position. I wish I had a chance to video her and Gracie 'bickering'. They'd yelp at eachother - my two little old ladies!

Anyway . . .please send good thoughts her way as she makes it back to her first mom tonight. I'm sure they'll be happy to see eachother at Rainbow Bridge again.

I just read over this whole thread, Anna. Trixie was certainly the little old eccentric. And those pictures of squeezing herself into the lil bitty dog bed! She sure wasn't about to let anyone know she may have made a wee bit of a mistake!
As you said, Anna, Trixie lived much longer than you expected. Shows you how powerful love and caring can be.
I will keep good thoughts out for Trixie as she passes over, frolicking forever at the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

She certainly was a funny dog with strange ways. Very independent old lady she was! And major props to Anna for rescuing a senior from the shelter and filling her life with love, food and comfort.

Rest in peace pretty Trixie.
